Stress is the general sense of being overwhelmed either mentally and emotionally or with specific tasks that need to be carried out.
There is a huge list of symptoms stress can cause including sleep disturbances, inability to concentrate, memory problems, overdoing it or perhaps the opposite, not being able to deal with anything more.
In addition it can lead to anxiety, depression or anger, causing loss of temper, poor judgement and difficulty in making decisions.
On a physical level stress may manifest in headaches high blood pressure, chest pains, shortness of breath, muscle tension, exhaustion and digestive problems.
There are many things we can do to reduce our stress. These include breaking down our tasks into smaller goals to make them more manageable, delegate some responsibilities, relaxation techniques and being more present in the here and now.
It's important to develop coping strategies and to explore the standards you set for yourself and pressure you may put yourself under.
