Insomnia is the condition whereby one feels unable to sleep over a period of time and can be the result of anxiety, excitement, depression or simply routine.

Oftentimes in this kind of situation we ‘try’ very hard to sleep only to find that frustration follows. One cannot ‘try’ to sleep anymore than one has to ‘try’ to breathe. It is something that we allow to happen quite naturally.

When we have pain of some kind, that’s our body trying to tell us something is wrong. It therefore has a very useful aspect of which civilization as we know it would not be able to have survived.

 

Pain often occurs in its most negative aspect when we are in conflict with the pain. That is to say that we resist its presence, crave it to go away, try to dismiss it and other such avoidances we increase its impact. You will notice that when you start to relax, to access the pain, how it begins to take on a new kind of quality. It becomes simply a sensation other than what we usually call pain.

 

For some this may be difficult to achieve with the level of discomfort they are feeling.

This is one of the techniques you can learn and master, simply and effectively through the powerful process of hypnosis. In most individuals body anesthesia is obtained as a ‘by product’ whether working on pain or not!


 As a Hypnotherapist I will be able to work with you know only with pain management, but in most cases the cause of the pain.

 

Please be aware that in some cases the pain should not necessarily be taken away. This is due to the aforementioned purpose of pain as a signal of something needing attention. Without that signal an ailment may deteriorate without the necessary treatment.

For some people being diagnosed with a psychosomatic ailment can be a relief, knowing that there is something that they can do to heal themselves, for others it can be upsetting. This can be as a result that there seems to be a presumption that the ailment ‘is all in your head’.

 

Although it is widely believed that the ailment has a strong emotional component, the symptoms are physiological, they feel as real and justified as any medical one and so I believe it should be treated just as seriously.

Hypnosis can be a very healthy way to lose weight when used in conjunction with a manageable healthy lifestyle.

 

It is great at being able to change habits and behaviours, overcome cravings and work with some of the deeper more sensitive issues around weight loss such as body image, self esteem, shame, guilt and stress.

 

Some people have a poor body image and are not actually over weight but feel fat. Hypnotherapy can be used to give a more realistic sense of the body as well increasing the ability to accept oneself as we are.

 

Quite often, people who try to lose weight using diets which can be counter productive as they do not work in line with the bodies functioning.


When we start to eat less food our body turns on its ‘starvation mode’. This basically means that it recognises less food intake and starts to store fats because it does not know when there will be more food available. It is a great survival mechanism, one that has allowed us to be healthy in times where food has been in hardship.


The trouble lies when people then eat more than usual because while the body is in ‘starvation mode’ it will store more fats from the surplus food.


What can then happen is that people tend to put on more weight from that piece of cake, those couple of bars of chocolate or that binge than they lost while dieting.

 

This is what is called ‘Yoyo’ dieting whereby we lose some weight then quickly gain it and struggle to lose it again.

 

People who are effective at keeping their weight off have a great relationship to food and exercise. When you start to learn how to manage your feelings and change your behaviours for more positive, appropriate ones for the moment, you will find that weight loss has become an easier natural process rather than those difficult ones enforced by various diets.
